How to carry a proposal decision and its reason to the next AI task

Save the choice and the reason together

A result without rationale is incomplete

A note that says use option B does not explain why option A was rejected or which conditions applied. Extract a short, confirmed reason from the meeting record or email. Separate time-limited and unconfirmed conditions. For a one-time handoff, a manual decision note may be enough.

Do not infer current information that is absent from the record. Before finalizing a new proposal, wait for my confirmation that the old reason still applies.

What the handoff can show

A fictional example might preserve that option B was chosen to avoid changing an existing onboarding process, with scope limited to an October 2026 internal briefing. The next AI can ask before extending the decision beyond that scope. The record does not contain debates or current market facts that were never saved. Add a correction when conditions change instead of treating an old decision as permanent.
