Start a chat
Choose a person, send an invitation, and check acceptance before starting a direct or group conversation.
Before you start
Sign in to AccountHub and open Chat in the navigation. To invite someone, confirm the email address they will use to sign in.
A direct conversation is shared with you and the other person. A group conversation is shared with its participants. Check the recipients before sending.
Steps
1. Choose a direct or group chat
From New chat, choose a direct chat or a group. Select one person for a direct chat; for a group, give it a name and select participants.
Open Chat →2. Choose or invite someone
Find someone by name or email address. If selecting an existing contact opens the conversation, you can talk immediately. For a new invitation, check their email address before creating it.
For a direct invitation, if the screen says an invitation email was sent and acceptance is pending, wait for acceptance. If an invitation was created but email was not sent, copy the invitation link and share it with the recipient. For a group, check each participant’s invitation state and the email sending result too. Creating an invitation and sending email are separate outcomes.
3. Check the recipient and talk
For an existing contact, check the person in the open conversation and continue. A newly invited person signs in using the invited email address and accepts. Reopen the chat, check the person or participants, and then send your message.
Check the result
For an existing contact, check that you can open the conversation. For a new invitation, check acceptance and access to the conversation. Check that your sent message appears there too. Creating a link alone does not confirm that someone joined.
Use a reply or other confirmation to check whether the recipient read it. External notifications are separate from the conversation in AccountHub.
If something goes wrong
- If an email does not arrive, check the displayed sending result and recipient. You can share an existing invitation link even if sending email failed.
- If someone cannot accept, check that they signed in with the invited email address.
- If Chat is missing or inaccessible, check the AccountHub account you signed in with and contact support from Settings.
